Accessories are sometimes overlooked when designing and building stables yet at the end of the project it is often the small things that determine functionality: comfort for the horses and the ease with which you carry out your day to day operations. Careful planning for the inclusion of your stable accessories can also lead to a lower overall project cost. For example, the cost of spinning feed bins and automatic waterers is much lower if installation is carried out during the construction of the stables instead of afterwards.

Similarly, when building a tack room, if saddle racks, rug racks and the like are to be fixed to walls, then the construction of those walls must suit their intended purpose. In this case we would recommend the use of 18mm ply as a wall sheet.

As an area which will underpin the effective use of your stables, the tack room deserves thorough preconception and we encourage the sketching or planning of your desired layout. Items you may wish to include bridle holders, rug and saddle racks, shelves, cupboards, mobile feed bins, a tea and coffee area and a fridge.
